Overview
Marvin Church has an active team of homebound visitors who seek to visit members and family no longer able to attend worship services on the main campus. Additionally, a pastor or lay persons periodically serve these members the sacrament of Holy Communion.
If you have a loved one in need of this service, please contact Rev. Gerry Giles.
To continue this wonderful ministry, Marvin Church continues to seek caring individuals who will join our visitation team. Team members routinely have two to three homes which they visit approximately once a month. Is God calling you to relieve someone’s loneliness?
Serve Communion
“Do this in remembrance of Me”—These words mean so much to many who are no longer able to physically attend church. Would you like to deliver Holy Communion to homebound members? We are looking for people to organize homebound Communion on the first Sunday of every month, the same day we celebrate Communion at church. The program will begin June 2.
Do you think only pastors can serve Communion? Not so. Our United Methodist Discipline provides for laity to assist in the sharing of bread and cup—a celebration of the whole church. Everything you will need will be provided along with instructions and encouragement.
If you’d like to get involved in this new ministry, contact Rev. Gerry Giles.
