What's happening in the next weeks as we reopen?
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 3 | Midweek Meditation opens for worshipers this Wednesday, June 3! Come to the chapel at 12:05 p.m. for this time of music and devotionals. The service livestreams on Facebook.
SUNDAY, JUNE 7 | We are working our way back to our normal service times! This week, we will have Core at 11 a.m. and sanctuary services also at 11. Both services will livestream at 11 on Facebook and YouTube.
SUNDAY, JUNE 14 | This is our target date for resuming two Core services and two sanctuary services. We’ll go back to our regular schedule of sanctuary worship at 8:30 and 11, and Core at 9 and 11, still taking proper precautions. Services will livestream at 11 a.m. on Facebook and YouTube.
SUNDAY, JUNE 21 | How about going back to Sunday School! We’ll have one-room Sunday School today at 9:45 a.m. in Pirtle Hall. We’ll also have sanctuary services at 8:30 and 11 a.m. and Core at 9 and 11 a.m.
What are we doing to stay safe?
- Seating is monitored to ensure proper spacing.
- Please maintain proper social distancing (six feet) at all times while on the church campus.
- All areas of the church that are in use will be cleaned and disinfected often.
- We encourage the use of masks, though they are not required.
- Hand sanitizing stations are available around the church, as well as plenty of soap and hot water in the washrooms.
You'll notice some other changes - no doughnut and coffee service, and shared items (Bibles and hymnals) have been removed from worship spaces. Liturgy and lyrics will be printed in the bulletin or projected.
We know that the virus that causes COVID-19can be spread to others by infected persons who have few or no symptoms. Even if an infected person is only mildly ill, the people they spread it to may become seriously ill or die, especially if that person is 65 or older with pre-existing health conditions that place them at higher risk. Because of the hidden nature of this threat, we strongly encourage the at-risk population to watch or participate in the service remotely.
When will Sunday School, student and children’s programs resume?
All small groups are on hold as we watch the CDC numbers. Programming will resume when it is safe to gather. Right now, we do not have plans to reopen the nursery or begin programs for students and children. We want to protect our precious kids and families! Please be patient, and know that we are making plans for fun events this summer, as soon as it is safe. Kids are welcome to stay with their families during worship services.
Will we continue online worship services?
Yes! We have streamed our services for years, and we will continue to do so. If you are uncomfortable being in public, please join us on Facebook or YouTube at 11 o’clock each Sunday for Core or sanctuary services. Just click the link below and the appropriate Facebook page will open.
Not a Facebook user? We're live on YouTube also at 11 a.m.
Subject to change
All these plans are subject to change, depending on what happens with the continuing pandemic. Out of our great love for the congregation and community, Marvin Church will offer programming and services only when we feel it is safe to do so. If you are not comfortable going out in public or are part of the vulnerable population, stay home! We will continue to stream worship services, devotionals and music throughout the week, so we can be connected even though we may not be together. We will post updates here and send them out in our weekly e-newsletter.
